A Flower for Dawne

A Review of Flower for the PS3
As a good and attentive husband, I am constantly on the lookout for new ways to bring more happiness into Dawne’s life, but I never thought that a video game would be one of those avenues. Then I discovered Flower.
Flower is a game for the Playstation 3 that falls [...]

Spreading the Love

It’s been awhile since we have shared some of the great blogs that Dawne and I have discovered, so we thought it was high time that we spread some link love around. After all, love is no good if you keep it all to yourself, now is it…
First up is One Dozen Out-of-the-Box Ideas to [...]

My First Podcast

As previously mentioned, I have been toying with the idea of podcasting. Well, playtime has officially begun! I’d like to invite you to take a listen to my very first podcast, and let me know how I did. After a couple of dozen tries, I think I finally got something that might be worth posting. [...]

20-20 Blind Sight

I have always been a fiercely independent kind of guy, possessed of a distinct “can do” attitude. I believe that Dawne’s term for it is stubborn. She has often complained that around me she feels redundant, as I don’t seem to need her. Though I have tried to explain the myriad of ways that I do need her, they are always an ephemeral, intangible kind of need as opposed to a practical need. There are few things that we could point to and cite as tangible evidence of what she does for me. Now the tables have turned.

People Before Products

I call it the People Before Products rule, and it states exactly what it sounds like, that we should wherever possible put human beings as a higher priority over things. Getting this wrong can lead to unnecessary strife and even the dissolution of entire families. I remember when my maternal grandfather passed away my uncles [...]

Do You need A Time Out?

Every once in a while, Dawne and I make a point of taking a time out from the world and all it’s attendant cares and pressures. Head Banging Love

I like to listen to music as I work, and particularly while I write. For the past month or so, I have been switching between a Blues/Soul playlist and one that could best be termed mellow/romantic. You know, Sinatra type stuff. Now here’s the thing: everything that I have written in the past month has felt hollow to me.

How Does Your Garden Grow?

My Father-in-law dropped by this weekend, and ever the good guest he arrived bearing gifts. This weekend’s care package consisted of freshly grown produce straight from his garden. Now to really understand Len you need to know one thing: the only thing that he loves more than painting is gardening. He is a gardener of the old English tradition, bringing forth a green bounty of life from rich soil lovingly tended using organic methods. And that is the real secret: he lovingly tends it. His is a labour of love.

Do Sweaty T-Shirts Do It For You?

Dawne and I have always found each other’s smell alluring, and we’re not alone in finding our mates scent to be a turn on. Napoleon Bonaparte is reputed to have once sent his beloved Josephine a missive in which he said, “…will be home in a week. Do not bathe…”
A recent UK study has shown [...]

May-December Relationships

There was an 11 year gap between my paternal grandparents, qualifying them (just) as a May-December couple. if you’re not familiar with the term, it basically means that one partner is significantly older than the other. Dawne is a mere 18 months older than I, so we don’t qualify. The general consensus in our society [...]
