If you encountered some problems accessing the Incurable Romantic during the month of August, never fear, you weren’t alone. I first noticed it when our traffic numbers suddenly, inexplicably dropped by half of their usual. At first I just chalked it up to a phenomenon that bloggers and webmasters commonly refer to as the “summer slump”, that is, an annual drop in visitors because most visitors have better things to do during the good ol’ summertime than sit hunched in front of their computer screens staring at pixels.
However, after a touch of research, I discovered that the slump doesn’t usually cut your traffic in half… Nowhere near, as a matter of fact.
Then reports began to trickle in here and there: the site was loading slowly. The site wasn’t loading at all. Our rss feed was down, and down, and down again. For some reason, whenever Dawne or I went to The Incurable Romantic, everything was normal. Normal, that is, until one particular day last week when I couldn’t even log in to publish my latest piece of prose.
In a near panic I phoned our webhost, 1 and 1 Internet, and asked as politely as I could, “Where’s my website?” And so the story came out: somewhere in 1 and 1’s secure, triple redundant, $25 million dollar system there hid a dodgy server. Unfortunately, because of the nature of the problem there were some difficulties determining exactly which server it was. But they did eventually track it down. As it happens, the problem was the very server that I-R lives on. But you probably guessed that part of it already, huh?
The short story is that the problem has been fixed, and we are up and running again at full steam. Oh happy day! Dawne and I both extend our thanks to you, our friends, for sticking with us through this difficult month, and I just wanted to let you know that we appreciate it. it’s always good to know that you’re loved 
Looking ahead through September we have some articles planned that we think are great, including a series I’ve been working on entitled “Are We Making Love Yet?” The series will examine the relationship between love and sex from a biological, emotional and spiritual perspective, trying to determine where love and sex meet and where they part.
Also coming up is a new feature for The Incurable Romantic: a bi-weekly newsletter, bringing our latest and greatest posts and articles straight to your mailbox. The newsletter will also occasionally feature exclusive content for subscribers only. We are so excited about this, I can’t tell you!
